About this role:

The Principal Technology Investments (PTI) Group is a division of Wells Fargo Strategic Capital, the primary principal investing and merchant banking platform of Wells Fargo & Company. The group invests in venture and growth-stage companies across all sub-sectors of technology and partners with visionary founders and operators on their journey to build enduring and category-defining companies. One of the group's goals is to bring technology-based innovation to Wells Fargo and help position the bank as a leader in embracing relevant emerging technologies. Since inception, the group has become deeply embedded across Wells Fargo's lines of business and corporate functions.

PTI can either lead/co-lead investments or participate in investment syndicates. Through the group's investments and Wells Fargo's commercial relationships, PTI has helped create substantial value for its portfolio companies. The group has invested in 35+ companies in the last seven years and has top quartile financial returns. Our typical investment size is in the $5mm - $30mm range and we have the ability to consider larger strategic investments in special situations.

The group is seeking a highly motivated Venture Capital/Private Equity Investments Vice President to join their team.

In this role, you will:

  • Drive the evaluation, closing, and ongoing monitoring of investments as part of a deal team
  • Complete assigned portfolio management activities
  • Develop financial models related to new and existing investment opportunities, as well as, restructuring and liquidity events
  • Assist in creating investment theses in various sectors and sourcing new investment opportunities
  • Contribute to and manage due diligence activities, review transaction documents, and complete other investment-related activities
  • Build relationships within the venture investment community
  • Mentor junior members of the team

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in Strategic Investment Management or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years work experience in one or a combination of: venture capital, private equity, or investment banking
  • Familiarity with evaluating and executing transactions related to private equity, venture capital, or credit related transactions
  • Strong skills in financial modeling (e.g., create/manage financial models, valuation methodologies- DCF analysis, comparable company analysis, etc)
  • Strong accounting skills and ability to analyze financial statements
  • Passion for, knowledge of, and/or experience in the technology industry is preferred (e.g. B2B software domains including Information Security, Data Management & Analytics, AI/ML, or infrastructure software)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong integrity, work ethic, and a team player. High level of initiative and accountability
  • Ability to work independently or in teams and thrive in a fast paced, loosely-structured, entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to mentor junior members of the team
  • Graduate level degree (e.g., MBA) or equivalent expertise preferred
