FULL DESCRIPTION: Our client is seeking a Cell Biologist (Staff Scientist, or Director position) to join an interdisciplinary R&D team focusing on developing the first tools for massively parallel, integrated single cell phenotyping and genomics. The cell biologist will be responsible for developing cell-based assays for monitoring co-cultures of immune and target cells. The scientist will conduct R&D projects on various cell types and work with external partners in academia and industry to pilot independent projects that validate these new approaches and enable new types of scientific questions to be asked. The ideal candidate is a creative and productive cell biologist with a strong background in culturing primary cells, live cell imaging, and genomic library preparation, and who will also assume a leadership role at the company.

The selected candidate will further possess:

  • Experience with cell-based assays with image-based fluorescent readouts
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced start-up work environment with the ability to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate ideas, protocols, and concepts with biologists, engineers, and non-scientists.
  • Experience with gene editing and related methods
  • Experience with cell-based assays with image-based fluorescent readouts
  • Experience with RNA-seq with limited samples
  • Use of molecular biology techniques with low sample inputs, such as single cells.
  • Experience with NGS sequencing platforms including Illumina sequencing.
  • Familiarity with tools to analyze NGS data is not required, but will be given priority

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop cell-based assay for functional phenotyping of immune/target co-cultures in single cell format
  • Develop and troubleshoot molecular biology workflows for genomic readouts.
  • Work closely with a cross-functional team consisting of biologists, engineers, and data scientists.
