As a Software Test Engineer for Philips Hue, you’ll be working on the world’s leading internet connected home lighting system, which is changing the way people interact and experience lighting. The Hue ecosystem is expanding rapidly through new lights, accessories, and exciting new use-cases such as using lighting to make your home more secure or create an immersive home theater experience.

You’ll be part of our fast-growing multi-disciplinary software engineering team in the Bay Area. We focus on extending Philips Hue functionality to areas beyond lighting, such as Home Entertainment and Home Security. This includes developing first-of-a-kind products that can synchronize lighting with games, movies, and music, as well as buildings integrations with other leading Smart Home companies. Your responsibility is to ensure these products meet world-class quality standards.

What you’ll do

  • Analyze business requirements and assess quality risks to define the appropriate test plan and develop comprehensive test plans and test cases

  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing and release activities in agile development environment

  • Implement tests and analyze test results to assure quality of existing and new functionalities

  • Identify, record, prioritize, document and track bugs, perform thorough regression testing when resolved

  • Assess quality status of our products through issues reports and data analytics, and continuously improve by refining our QA processes and test coverage

  • Closely collaborate with software developers and product managers, both on-site and internationally, to understand the requirements and implementation, advise on the product direction, and evangelize software QA best practices

Your qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • 3 years of experience in software QA role with a proven track record of delivering high quality products to customers

  • Extensive knowledge of software QA methodologies, common testing resources/test case managementtools, and processes

  • Know how to write clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases

  • Experience with end-user testing by understanding user needs and use-case scenarios, as well as API testing using deep understanding of technology and possible failure cases

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonalcommunication/collaboration skills

  • Thorough sense of ownership and commitment to project deliverables, with ability to multitask, prioritize and successfully operate in a fast paced, agile team environment

  • Excellent quality mindset and passion for delivering the best product experiences

Preferred

  • Experience testing IoT products that include software interactions between device firmware, cloud services and mobile applications

  • Domain knowledge in Smart Home Entertainment or Security
