Manager of Product Management, or Director of Product Management - Client Facing

Local SF Bay area, or remote with willingness to relocate in the next year.

Seeking strong client facing experience.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • The position will be responsible to manage the location-based intelligence products and platforms.
  • The product combines highly accurate Wireless Location Signatures™ (WLS™) cell phone location technology, big data technology and analytics to obtain intelligence and actionable insights for a broad range of use cases, such as:

Preserving national security by protecting critical assets and infrastructure

2. Saving lives by preventing crime
3. Enabling safe city programs like emergency caller location and disaster management

  • This is a creative position within the organization. Ideal candidate has, in the past, played different roles before taking on the responsibility of really “owning” a product.
  • You will help define the product strategy, decide what should be built and communicate the business strategy to the rest of the company and its customers.
  • You must be able to quickly evaluate opportunities to find the most promising ones (which means saying “NO” a lot), which also means that being highly intuitive is part of the job.
  • You must be able to negotiate with customers and stakeholders, thinking about the future of the product and working out the evidence they need to get everyone else on board.
  • You will use your creative abilities to bring valuable, usable, and feasible products to the market. You will work with peers to execute on the product vision and strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform competitive analysis, develop products strategy, build, and manage product roadmaps.
  • Conduct market research and actively work with product, sales, customer teams to determine current and anticipated customer needs which can be turned into product features that add value to customers.
  • Establish trust with our customers thru regular roadmap and technology reviews.
  • Support sales with product presentations and demonstrations.
  • Create business-level product feature requirements to serve as input into the product development backlog.
  • Actively work with application product development to prioritize the development backlog and plan the schedule for content of product releases.
  • Provide product data to create product marketing communications and training materials.
  • Research market needs and recommend creation of new products; recommend build/buy/partner options.
  • Create and manage the product licensing models.
  • Inspire innovation of the product management and technology teams.
  • Create effective communication within the organization, with partner organizations and to senior leadership within the company.
  • Interest in, and focus on, customers and passionate about creating great user experiences.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with engineers and executives.
  • Willingness to travel, locally and internationally. Likely 20-30%
  • Investigates and provides analysis for new business strategies for current and new market opportunities.
  • Ensure that companies market position is optimized for each product, via timely product introduction, aggressive account penetration, appropriate pricing and discounting tactics, detailed analysis of the cost of ownership, and all other appropriate measures necessary.
  • Ensure the company has current market data, including account potential, activity of competition, pricing information and applications information.
  • Direct the development of company product requirements for specific product(s) and product line(s), including product strategy definition, requirements analysis, and pricing. Monitors the development of business plans, assesses market penetration, and product positioning to drive competitive advantage, revenue and market share. Reduces broad concepts and business strategies into structured product marketing plans. Oversees market research, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Must have experience client facing, out-facing for Product Definition working with Customer, Market, Business Development, and Sales.
  • Seeking strong data center server side SW product management experience.
  • Business intelligence background in Security, Investigations, Defense, Fraud or Similar
  • Demonstrated success in defining and launching excellent enterprise software products and platforms.
  • Developed/Managed data mining and/or predictive analytics products.
  • Technical background in public communication networks (e.g., wireless, IP)
  • The individual must be highly entrepreneurial and a strategic thinker who can solve today issues in a young company as well as build processes for growth to a large company infrastructure.
  • The individual will need to be hands-on and work closely with all levels in the company, including senior management. The individual needs to have:
    • MSEE/MSCS. MBA is a plus.
    • 15+ years combined experience in software product development, management, and marketing.
    • Business intelligence background in Security, Investigations, Defense, Fraud or Similar.
    • Demonstrated success in defining and launching excellent enterprise software products and platforms.
    • Excellent business and technical writing skills (whitepapers, requirements)
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
    • Developed/Managed data mining and/or predictive analytics products.
    • Developed/Managed products incorporating big data technologies.
    • Worked with large geo-location datasets a big plus.
    • Ability to motivate team members and accomplish goals.
    • Ability to cover whatever gaps that may exist in the process to get the product shipped.
    • Ability to proactively identify problems early and to prioritize deliverables.
    • Ability to work with remote teams very effectively.
    • Good knowledge of software development processes (agile, waterfall).
    • Technical background in public communication networks (e.g., wireless, IP).
