Company is growing and seeking an experienced engineering leader with a passion for manufacturing engineering and supplier/contract manufacturing (CM) management.  Our Senior Director, Manufacturing Technology role located in Milpitas, CA will lead the development and adoption of innovative strategies and technologies to support Company’s long term business growth and ensure the highest quality customer experience. The role will lead a direct and matrix team of cross-functional experts to define, develop and implement tools, process and systems to achieve the startup of new product introductions, drive continuous product improvement and ensure seamless transition of products across the internal and global contract manufacturing locations.

The impact of this role is significant in ensuring the development of leverageable processes and capabilities across Company factories and CM suppliers to deliver flexibility and agility to the manufacturing operation. You will partner with manufacturing, engineering, and sourcing organizations to ensure seamless introduction into and continued optimization of the extended supply chain. Additionally, you will build a centralized Component Engineering function to ensure process continuity, change management, data integrity and component risk mitigation across all product lines. 


  • • Lead Global Manufacturing Technology team; inclusive of NPIE, Component Engineering, Test Development, Process Engineering and Automation.
  • • Partner with Engineering, Materials, and Factory site teams to continually enhance DFX capabilities and ensure implementation in all HW NPI projects
  • • Responsible for manufacturing strategy including developing, communicating, and implementing activities, tests, and processes across all internal and extended manufacturing facilities
  • • Identify and implement enhancements to MES systems to ensure site commonality, process conformance and continuous improvement data collection
  • • Provide strategic leadership to the component engineering & manufacturing transfer team
  • • Establish policy and process for component life cycle management from design selection, technical risk assessment, and PCN mitigation
  • • Lead and develop robust component engineering process to ensure component database integrity, including Agile change management and synchronization with CAD design platforms
  • • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain and Site Manufacturing teams to define and drive sourcing qualification processes to meet quality, cost, and flexibility targets
  • • Provide technical support to materials management team for supplier selection and qualification process to achieve lowest cost of ownership
  • • Champion and work with stake holders to define high level manufacturing CMs in the areas of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma methodology to achieve company quality, delivery and cost goals
  • • Accountable for CM KPI targets for quality, productivity, assembly cost reduction, and process improvements
  • • Plan and meet CAPEX budgets for CM capacity and supporting expenses
  • • Provide technical leadership to drive advanced assembly technical capability at all factories and CM’s, ensure new processes are ready and qualified to meet new product roadmaps

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • • Proven ability to lead a multidiscipline Manufacturing Engineering Team supporting complex electromechanical automation products
  • • Demonstrable successes in defining, developing, and deploying globally distributed and finely coordinated manufacturing capabilities for high reliability complex systems
  • • Excellent verbal communication skills in individual and group settings, as well as management reporting/presentations
  • • Ability to influence others in a fast-paced, cross-functional, matrixed organization

Basic Qualifications:

  • • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • • 15+ years of Manufacturing Engineering and Supplier/CM Management experience
  • • Experience managing technical teams in a matrixed organization
  • • Lean, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement training and experience
  • • Proven track record of managing manufacturing transfer to Contract Manufacturers for new product introduction and production phase
  • • Experience with PLM systems (e.g. Agile)
  • • Hands-on experience in electro-mechanical assembly, process design, automated test methods and MES

Preferred Qualifications:

  • • Master of Engineering
  • • Experience with medical equipment manufacturing
