Seeking a highly motivated, creative and collaborative scientist with a strong passion and dedication to the discovery of new life-saving medicines. The candidate will join our internal research and development efforts for novel HIV therapeutics, including small molecule drugs and biologics for treatment, prevention and potential cure of HIV infection. Primary responsibilities will include: designing and executing cell-based virology and immunology assays, evaluating new targets and therapeutic approaches in a fast-paced team environment, interpreting results, proactively troubleshooting technical issues and recommending potential solutions based on experimental observations and/or literature reviews. He/she will collaborate and work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team of scientists to support pre-clinical evaluations of molecules, towards the selection of leads for clinical development.

Key Responsibilities:
-Independently plans and executes virology and cell-biology based studies to evaluate new molecular targets, therapeutic concepts, and therapeutic agents.
-Works collaboratively with project teams to supports key research activities and project goals within the HIV research portfolio
-Demonstrates and applies advanced level of understanding of project goals and methods
and selects appropriate methods and techniques in performing experiments.
-Researches new methodologies and techniques. Keeps abreast with relevant literature.
-Engages with team members and senior personnel to proactively seek out solutions to problems and recommend alternatives as needed.
-Presents work at team meetings, interprets data, and draws conclusions on the findings.
-Able to multi-task and work on diverse projects at the same time and works with minimal supervision on projects of moderate to complex scope.
-Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational and data management skills.
-Effective team player who thrives in a high pace environment where excellence, accountability and innovation are critical for success.

Required Qualifications:
-14+ years of experience with BS degree OR 13+ years of experience with -MS degree in a related scientific discipline.
-Knowledge and experience with a broad array of technologies to support assay development and discovery research.
-Hands-on experience in cell culture and virology techniques such as primary cell isolation and culture, antiviral assays, immune cell functional assays, multi-color flow, ELISA/Luminex, as well as molecular biology techniques such as cloning, qPCR and sequencing preferred.
-Assay development skills, ability to evaluate quality of the data, recognize anomalous results and interpret experimental outcomes is essential.
-Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to integrate and interact effectively within the Virology group and the Research organization.
