Position Profile:

Position Summary

The Medical Director of JZP351 (Vyxeos) will report to the Executive Director and assume a key role within the US Medical Affairs organization. The MD will provide leadership and direction to a cross functional Medical Affairs team in the development and execution of the Medical Affairs’ plans and collaborate with the brand team and Clinical Development in the strategic planning and life cycle management of marketed and in-development products. Serving as the subject matter expert, the MD will provide direction and support to internal colleagues (sales, marketing, regulatory, and clinical), resolves medical issues, and provide critical input in the development of medical documents (product materials. research ideas, internal trainings, etc.) to ensure high strategic and scientific standards. The MD will ensure strategic partnerships with key opinion leaders and professional societies in hematology/oncology and represent Medical Affairs externally through presentations at advisory boards, key scientific meetings, and interactions with our key investigators. They will work collaboratively with Jazz’s development partners or alliance partners as needed.

Responsibilities, Including But Not Limited To

  • Work collaboratively with a matrix medical affairs team comprising of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), Payer Value and Outcomes team members, Medical Communications, HEOR, and Medical Information to develop a scientific platform and a medical strategic plan
  • As a subject matter expert provide day-to-day clinical and medical guidance while working closely on joint projects with other members of the Medical Affairs team and other departments within Jazz; projects may include scientific congress/conference strategy and planning, advisory boards, publications, field force training, review of medical information standard response letters, health economics and epidemiology analyses, and marketing/policy related projects.
  • Provide scientific input into publication strategy and review manuscripts for publication and abstracts and posters for presentation at scientific meetings
  • Participate in appropriate cross-functional and cross-company Clinical and Commercial teams to inform brand strategies and tactics and represent Medical Affairs.
  • Participate in the Investigator Sponsored Trial review and educational grant process.
  • Provide clinical and scientific support in responding to inquiries from healthcare professionals and managed care organizations.
  • Ensure that all medical affairs presentations are consistent, accurate, and clinically meaningful
  • Provide medical input in the review and approval of promotional materials
  • Consistently demonstrate a positive, collaborative attitude that exemplifies ownership of business, teamwork with peers, and respect of supervisors, peers and customers

Essential Qualifications:

  • MD, DO, (or equivalent), Ph.D., Pharm.D., required
  • Hematology/Oncology experience required
  • A minimum of 5-10 years in medical affairs or similar roles within a pharmacological company or equivalent clinical tenure in hematology/oncology.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate with internal colleagues in sales, marketing, and managed care.
  • Proven successful management of teams either directly or in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build credible professional relations with Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Ability to deliver scientific presentations
  • Self-starter with positive can-do attitude
