A non-profit in the South Bay, is looking for an experienced Accountant with specialization in general ledger. The right talent should be able to hit the ground working, work with minimal supervision, and have a great attitude.

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for providing general accounting and business support to the company. The role is highly involved in planning, organizing and ensuring timely completion of monthly and year-end financial closings;

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information;
  • Collect and enter individual center enrollment and attendance numbers. Calculate revenue earned from the contract enrollment and attendance numbers. Ensure all data entries are entered, calculated, and reported accurately and timely
  • Performs highly technical and complex accounting analysis, research, calculations and data compilations in compliance with state funding and other reporting requirements. Prepare and update allocation percentage to do revenue and cost allocations. Compile and allocate revenue and cost among contracts per contract requirements. Ensure all revenue and cost allocations are set up and booked accurately and timely.
  • Prepare and process various journal entries and GL reconciliations as required
  • Generate various monthly accounting reports as required; reviews statements, schedules and reports for accuracy, completeness and compliance with legal and professional standards.
  • Works closely with other GL accountants, Accounts payable and Accounts receivable staff; protects organization's value keeping information confidential.
  • Perform other special projects, ad hoc reports, and office duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience in General Ledger Accounting required.
  • Good knowledge of accounting concepts and terminologies required (good knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles - GAAP).
  • Higher level of computer skills with strong Excel knowledge required.
  • Must work well in a deadline driven environment.
  • Must be an organized, reliable, and responsible person.
