As the Data Analyst, you will act as the Analytical expert to support Government Operations (M&R & C&S). You will drive business insights to measure program and segment performance, analyze CTM STAR Rating results, investigate key business problems through quantitative analytics, forecasting, and machine learning methodologies. You'll work closely with business leaders to develop innovative analytic solutions, create actionable insights and drive better decisions and performance to help Government Operations to fulfill its mission.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop analytical model to analyze and monitor program performance including DSNP Care Coordination Program, Billing & Enrollment, Claims, Appeals & Grievances, and Encounter Operations. Derive business insights and actionable recommendations to improve program outcomes
  • Medicare STAR Rating Analytics: develop, formulate and implement analytic solutions with Operational Leaders to drive STAR Rating to 5
  • Develop machine learning and predictive models to profile segment populations (e.g. disenrolled members, DCC Care coordinators, etc.). Deep dive into program gaps & opportunities by creating linkage of all related data (membership, NPS, CAHPS, Maestro, Operational metrics, network adequacy, etc.) to identify improvement and remediation actions
  • Lead projects to completion by contributing to database creation, report and dashboard development and automation, forecast, what-if scenarios and statistical modeling
  • Formulate hypothesis, develop queries and models to evaluate hypothesis and formulate solutions to drive process improvement.
  • Lead SG&A /cost efficiency efforts through quality remediation and process improvement data deep dive, identify and execute on new opportunities for increases in efficiencies and performance
  • Influences senior leadership to adopt new ideas, projects and / or approaches

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience utilizing SQL and/or relational database tools
  • 3+ years of experience performing data analysis
  • Proficient skills in Excel and PowerPoint experience
  • 3+ years of work experience in a corporate setting, preferably healthcare based corporation (MCO)
  • If you need to enter a work site for any reason, you will be required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener. When in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are required to wear a mask in common areas. In addition, employees must comply with any state and local masking orders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic level of proficiency with Tableau / Talend / Crystal Reports
  • Experience in data process map, workflow, user acceptance testing, and database management
  • Oracle / SQL Server database experience
  • Previous experience with advanced analytical tools (Python / R / Tiger Graph)
  • Previous experience with Healthcare Exchange / Marketplace / Medicaid / Medicare
  • MBA or advance degree
  • 3+ years of operational experience
  • Self-starter with an engaging style, solid influencing and facilitation skills that will quickly develop relationships across the organization while building a collaborative work environment.
  • Analytic thought leadership with skills in developing innovative and creative analytic solutions to complex problem
  • Strong business acumen and critical thinking ability
  • Executive presence and presentation skill - ability to "tell a compelling story" in a concise and effective manner to non-financial executives
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate, identify and diagnose problems and make recommendations
  • Candidate must be goal-directed, persistent and driven to achieve positive results; Is positive influence on others and deals well with setbacks; Identifies integration issues, removes barriers and tracks project status in order to obtain desired results.
  • Detail orientation - getting "into the trenches" to evaluate all aspects of operations; Pivotal to success will be the ability to take a hands-on approach to getting the information needed and driving effective and lasting change
