Adecco Medical & Science is hiring for contract- to -hire "Clinical Lab Scientists"for one of our leading clients in healthcare Industry in Palo Alto, CA.
Title: Clinical Lab Scientist
Time: Monday- Friday (6AM- 2PM)
Pay Rate: $30/Hr-$50/Hr (depending on experience)
Duration: 3-6 Months (Temp- to- hire)
Fully licensed California CLS
Blood Center or Hospital Blood Bank experience
13 week contract with opportunity of temp to perm
They will be working in a team of 13 CLS to test blood products (ABO/Rh, HIV, Syphilis, etc) daily. Previous experience with our testing platforms a plus but not required.
Experience in neonatal, peditaric or geratology will be a plus
- Performs quality control and verifies that the controls are in range, reporting discrepancies to a Senior, Reference, or Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
-Calibrates assays where the calibration is part of each run. Maintains supply inventory, reporting when the last (or second to the last) reagent kit or package is used.
-Performs and documents routine preventative maintenance and records its performance.
-Reports instrument malfunctions to senior staff.
-May perform simple troubleshooting.
-Enters and verifies results in the LIS.
-Performs routine and limited specialized procedures for analysis of specimens, including chemistry, coagulation, hematology, immunology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, urinalysis and virology.
-Records and reports test results.
-Reviews results for accuracy and precision; repeating tests or performing confirmatory tests as appropriate and correlating laboratory and patient data to verify results.
-Interprets laboratory results in light of controls and published standards.
-Communicates critical results to the person responsible for the care of the patient.
- May draw patient blood samples following established procedures if requested.
-May accession test requests into laboratory information system, with emphasis on accurate data entry, billing, appropriate documentation and the accurate generation of reports.
- Reads, comprehends and keeps up-to-date on changes to protocols and procedures of the laboratory.
-Follows procedures while performing duties, referring questions and issues falling outside of established policies/procedures to appropriate senior staff.
-Understands and can explain basic test principles.
-Utilizes hospital resources for communication including use of interpreters.
-Regularly performs and documents quality control testing as specified in procedures.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of the laboratory information computer systems, hospital information system.
-Facilitates shift transition with the members of the next working shift by communicating issues concerning instruments, problem patients, quality control, and incomplete tasks. Understands the ergonomic and safety issues involved in the job and takes responsibility for working in a manner to minimize the risk of personal injury as instructed.
-Maintains a clean, safe and neat work area.
-Interacts constructively, and positively and professionally with co-workers, management, faculty, students, hospital staff and outside clients, patients" physicians and vendors in order to support a collaborative, team oriented, customer focused laboratory environment.
- Focuses on the needs of laboratory service customers including patient, physicians, office staff, hospital staff and others.
Other Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to change work schedules and/or shifts.
-Technical knowledge of such areas as chemistry, biology, mathematics, hematology, microbiology, virology and immunology at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology plus successful completion of a supervised one year clinical intern-ship.
-For specialty licenses or equivalent the coursework and training may be limited to that required for the specialty area. Interpersonal and language skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing personnel, colleagues and other clinicians while reporting and explaining test results, gathering information and the like.
- Analytical skills necessary in order to interpret and analyze test results, and determine appropriate course of action for abnormal or atypical results.
-Must relate same to normal health states and to presence of disease or other conditions, which may alter results. Ability to read and follow English language written and oral instructions, procedures and policies.
-Manual dexterity required for pipetting small volumes, fine manipulation of microscopes, maintenance and repair of delicate instrumentation and other bench level tasks.
