    Reporting to Chief Financial Officer, the Assistant Vice President, Finance will primarily be focused on building and managing the FP&A team to maintain full responsibility for Codexis strategic planning, short term financial planning, optimization of resource allocation, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities. We are looking for a senior-level, hands-on leader with a strategic mindset who demonstrates the capabilities of developing and driving the long-term strategic planning processes, annual and quarterly budgets, financial forecasts and analyses, driving corporate development analysis and integration, overseeing the development and delivery of management reporting environments, monitoring key performance indicators and driving companywide financial performance initiatives.

    In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Build and manage a world-class, data-first, FP&A team that is responsible for consolidated financial forecasting, budgeting and planning across teams, and reporting (monthly close, operating model, Board and Investor Relations)

  • Working closely with the CFO and Finance leadership, develop long-term strategic plans, annual budgets and operational analysis and reporting; providing thought leadership to understand business drivers and their impact

  • Provide analytical perspectives and executive financial summaries to important strategic decisions, including M&A activities, strategic collaborations and new business opportunities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. Act as a strategic thought partner; challenge business assumptions for new investments or activities and provide alternative solutions or points of view

  • Drive cross-functional alignment on accounting processes and planning

    To be successful in this role, your background and experience should include:

  • MBA or CPA with 15+ years of relevant progressive FP&A or Accounting experience in the Biotech, Pharma, CDMO or similar industrial experience within a revenue generating commercial manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated track record of success as a senior finance leader, including substantial experience in financial planning and analysis, divisional finance/controller and manufacturing finance roles in a publicly-held finance organization

  • Strong communication and relationship building skills at senior levels, with the ability to interpret and summarize data to aid management in achieving strategic and operational goals. The ideal candidate will be a natural leader with excellent verbal/communications skills and a thoughtful, persuasive personal style

  • A highly data and metrics-driven individual with strong analytical abilities

  • Prefer strong knowledge of revenue recognition rules, and ability to utilize revenue recognition accounting skills in evaluating contracts, budgets, and forecasts

  • Systems savvy and comfortable with data driven environments

  • Ability to challenge the norms and existing processes and relentlessly looks for ways to add value and to position the organization for success

  • Ability to effectively manage projects; results oriented and able to roll-up their sleeves to accomplish necessary tasks

  • A self-starter comfortable with working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

  • Excellent Excel, PowerPoint and modeling skills
